FISH DE POOT French version follows. Leaving a Trace, One Fish at a Time Some artists search for a signature. Fish de Poot found his through a simple fish. Not as a logo. Not as a brand. Simply as a way of leaving a trace wherever life took him. "At the beginning, the Fish was simply a testimony of my passage. A signature made of stones during my travels." Born in Biarritz and now based in Anglet, in the French Basque Country, Fish de Poot grew up between the Atlantic Ocean, surfing culture and a love of travel. Those experiences naturally became part of the visual language he continues to develop today. What began as a discreet mark left behind during his journeys gradually evolved into something much greater. An identity. One that people would instantly recognise. "I wanted to be easily identified. To stand out." Today, that identity lives through his colourful world of Fish Art and Posca Art, where countless fish, bold graphic shapes and vibrant colours come together with remarkable precision. Every composition is carefully built around a simple idea before expanding into a rich network of details. "Patience... and instinct." That balance between meticulous craftsmanship and creative spontaneity has become one of the defining characteristics of his work. Over the years, his artistic language has continued to evolve. While the Fish has remained at the heart of every creation, the way he approaches each artwork has changed profoundly. "Today I spend much more time on my artworks." A decisive turning point came with the birth of his daughter. Travelling became less frequent. Studio time became more valuable. The Fish itself evolved, growing from the memory of a journey into the centre of an entire artistic universe. Ocean life, surfing and marine imagery remain recurring themes throughout his work, reflecting both his environment and the freedom that has always inspired him. Influenced by the work of Drew Brophy, Fish de Poot has nevertheless developed a visual language that is unmistakably his own. Playful. Graphic. Immediately recognisable. Humour lies at the heart of everything he creates. "My art stands for humour." Yet behind the playful appearance lies genuine craftsmanship. Every contour, every colour and every detail is carefully considered to create artworks that feel both joyful and beautifully finished. "I want my art to make people smile and impress them through its finish." His paintings never tell viewers what they should feel. Instead, they invite them to pause, smile and enjoy the moment. That philosophy naturally resonates with the Deerbie project. For Fish de Poot, joining Deerbie represented more than a new artistic surface. "It was an opportunity to support a young creative adventure while embracing what he simply describes as "a new artistic challenge." Just as the Fish once became the symbol of his own journey, his Deerbie now becomes another step in the ongoing evolution of his artistic universe. Fish De Poot (Version française) Laisser une trace, un Fish à la fois Certains artistes cherchent une signature. Fish de Poot, lui, l'a trouvée dans un simple poisson. Pas comme un logo. Pas comme une marque. Simplement comme une manière de laisser une trace de son passage. « Au début, le Fish était juste un témoignage de mon passage. Une signature de cailloux en voyage. » Né à Biarritz et installé aujourd'hui à Anglet, au cœur du Pays Basque, Fish de Poot grandit entre l'océan Atlantique, la culture du surf et les voyages. Ces influences nourrissent naturellement son imaginaire et façonnent progressivement le langage visuel qui caractérise aujourd'hui son travail. Ce qui n'était au départ qu'un discret signe laissé au fil des rencontres et des destinations est devenu, avec le temps, une véritable identité artistique. Une identité immédiatement reconnaissable. « Être identifié facilement. Me démarquer. » Aujourd'hui, cette identité s'exprime à travers son Fish Art et son Posca Art, un univers graphique où poissons, couleurs franches et formes géométriques s'assemblent avec une précision remarquable. Chaque composition naît d'un thème, puis se construit patiemment, détail après détail, jusqu'à trouver son équilibre. « Patience… et instinct. » Cette alliance entre maîtrise technique et spontanéité est devenue l'une des signatures de son travail. Au fil des années, son univers a continué d'évoluer. Si le Fish est toujours resté au cœur de ses créations, son regard sur son propre travail a profondément changé. « Aujourd'hui je passe beaucoup plus de temps sur mes œuvres. » La naissance de sa fille marque un véritable tournant. Les voyages deviennent moins nombreux. Le temps passé à l'atelier prend une nouvelle importance. Le Fish évolue lui aussi. Il ne se contente plus de témoigner d'un passage ; il devient le point de départ d'un univers artistique à part entière. L'océan, le surf et les poissons restent les thèmes qui traversent naturellement son œuvre, en écho à son environnement et à cette liberté qui l'inspire depuis toujours. Influencé notamment par Drew Brophy, Fish de Poot a progressivement développé un langage graphique qui lui appartient entièrement. Décalé. Drôle. Précis. Les trois mots qu'il choisit lui-même pour définir son univers. Au cœur de cette démarche se trouve une conviction simple. « Aujourd'hui, mon art défend l'humour. » Derrière l'apparente légèreté de ses créations se cache un véritable souci du détail. Chaque contour, chaque couleur et chaque finition sont travaillés avec minutie afin de créer des œuvres capables de susciter une émotion positive. « Mon art veut faire sourire et impressionner par la finition. » Ses œuvres n'imposent jamais une lecture. Elles invitent simplement à ralentir, à sourire et à profiter de l'instant. C'est précisément cette philosophie qui rend sa rencontre avec Deerbie si naturelle. Pour Fish de Poot, rejoindre Deerbie ne représentait pas seulement un nouveau support d'expression. C'était l'occasion de participer à une jeune aventure créative tout en relevant ce qu'il décrit lui-même comme : « Un nouveau challenge artistique. » Comme le Fish est devenu au fil du temps le symbole de son propre parcours, son Deerbie marque aujourd'hui une nouvelle étape dans l'évolution de son univers artistique.
